About Dr Stephen Butler

Dr Stephen Butler is an orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in surgery of the hand and wrist for adults and children. He is a consultant hand and wrist surgeon at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. He lives on the Gold Coast and works privately out of John Flynn private hospital, Pindara private hospital and Ballina Day Surgery.

Dr Stephen Butler consults out of John Flynn Hospital and Ballina Day Surgery. He works closely with the skilled hand therapy team at the clinic during surgery rehabilitation and for patients that don't need surgery. We know a good result is more than just surgery and make sure you know everything you need to know to make an informed decision.

Dr Stephen Butler completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of New South Wales with Honours, and went on to complete orthopaedic training through the Australian Orthopaedic Association surgical training program including the hand unit at Sydney Hospital. After completing his orthopaedic training and obtaining his Fellowship with the College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Orthopaedics he proceeded to complete his fellowships in hand and wrist surgery under the Australian Hand Surgery Society fellowship program (PFET). He undertook fellowship at the Victorian Hand Surgery Associates in Melbourne and the St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, as well as the Gold Coast Hospital and Queensland Children’s Hospital.

 

Dr Stephen Butler was chosen for the British Travelling Hand Fellowship and the International Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand travelling fellowship 2021
